It all started in 2015 when local couple Kate Lane and Andrew Cornthwaite decided to rescue their village pub, The Baiting House, which had recently closed down after years of decline. Kate’s family had lived in the area for generations, and she had fond memories of visiting the Baiting House as a young girl.
The couple set about a major refurbishment and the Baiting House has now been lauded in both the local and national press as an example of how country pubs can thrive in today’s economy.
The philosophy is simple: treat all customers like valued guests, help them to enjoy the area and give them a level of quality that keeps them coming back. And do it all with a smile.
It seems to work, as Kate and Andrew have since refurbished and re-opened three further properties. Although the attention to detail is the same in all our properties, we try to make sure that each has its own identity and character. Try them and let us know what you think!
